Electrum Dash is a specialized version of the well-known Electrum wallet, adapted for working with the Dash cryptocurrency. Many functions are borrowed from the original Electrum, so we won’t describe in detail everything that’s already familiar to Bitcoin version users. Here we’ll focus on key features specifically related to Dash.

Main Functions

  • Sending funds:

On the “Send” tab, enter the recipient’s address (manually or by pasting from clipboard), optionally add a description, specify the amount. The system automatically calculates the fee.
If you try to send more funds than available in your balance — the wallet will warn you.
  • Receiving funds:

The “Receive” tab displays your addresses. Double-click on the desired one, copy the address via the “Copy to clipboard” button. You can specify a description and save the address in the “Requests” section. A QR code will be shown in the address list.
After sending funds and their successful processing, the balance will update, and the status in “Requests” will change from “Pending” to “Received”.
  • Transaction history / monitoring:

“History” displays all operations: pending ones — with a clock icon, completed ones — with a checkmark and timestamp.
When a transaction is confirmed by the Dash network (approximately every 2.5 minutes a new block is created), its status updates. Full confirmation is considered after 6 blocks.
To view transaction details — right-click on it → “Details”. There you can also copy its identifier or open it in a third-party blockchain explorer.
  • Changing password:

Select Wallet → Password from the menu or click the lock icon in the interface, enter a new password and confirm it.
If you forget your password, you can restore access using the seed phrase (described below).
  • Backup:

The seed phrase is the main recovery method and contains all wallet keys and addresses. You can get it through the interface: either by clicking on the seed phrase icon, or through Wallet → Seed menu (password required). It’s recommended to write down the phrase manually and store it in a secure place.
Alternative option: save a backup file through File → Save Copy. This file includes the encrypted seed phrase and imported addresses.
  • Wallet recovery:

To restore the wallet on a new device, run File → Create/Restore, set the wallet name, select “standard wallet” and check “I already have a seed”. Then paste your seed phrase. With correct input, you’ll be asked to enter a new password, after which the wallet will load all transactions. Some may be marked as “Not Verified” — the status will correct after wallet restart.
You can also restore the wallet by copying the application data file:
    • for Linux: ~/.electrum-dash folder
    • macOS: ~/Electrum-Dash
    • Windows: %APPDATA%Electrum-DASH

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

  • How does Dash Electrum work?

It’s focused on speed, minimal resource usage, and user convenience. For serious computations and validation, functions are delegated to remote servers, while private keys are never transmitted to servers.
  • Are the servers that Electrum Dash trusts reliable?

The client doesn’t transmit private keys. Information from servers is verified through the payment confirmation mechanism (SPV, Simplified Payment Verification).
  • What is a mnemonic (seed) phrase?

This is a random phrase consisting of 12 words, used to build wallet private keys.
For example: “constant forest adore false green weave stop guy fur freeze giggle clock”

Thanks to this phrase, you can completely restore the wallet on another device.

  • How secure is the seed phrase?

The phrase is generated with 128-bit entropy — this is sufficient to ensure security comparable to a Dash private key (256 bits). The seed phrase and private key are interconnected.
